2019 PKP International Scholarly Publishing Conference (PKP 2019)
Hosted by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) November 18-22, 2019, PKP 2019 is a week long celebration of all things open access, open source, and OJS. The week kicks off with a two-day pre-conference sprint followed by OJS workshops, an evening reception with founder John Willinsky, and two-days of community presentations including keynotes by Abel Packer (SciELO), Tara Robertson (Mozilla), Reme Melero (CSIC), Ignasi Labastida (University of Barcelona), and Katherine Skinner (Educopia).
Background: Since 2007, the Public Knowledge Project’s (https://pkp.sfu.ca/) bi-annual conference has brought together participants from around the world to discuss local publishing activities and the latest in open access research. They also provide an opportunity to learn and share innovative work related to open source publishing technologies, including our flagship software, Open Journal Systems (OJS). In 2018, PKP turned 20. The 2019 PKP International Scholarly Publishing Conference (PKP 2019) will explore this milestone further, reflecting on the maturation of open access and the open, community controlled infrastructure that brings us all together.
