Librarians make a difference! Help us open up education

29th April 2022News, Open Education, Open Science

Academic librarians are crucial actors in implementing OE policy, practice and principles and they have played a pivotal role in advancing them, developing Open Access, Open Scholarship and Open Science policies and practices.

If we are to gain  an accurate picture of where the academic library community stands when it comes to opening up education, we need your input. This will help the library community plan support in the area going forward.

SPARC Europe, together with the European Network of Open Education Librarians, recently launched the 2022 edition of its Open Education annual survey. This year we will continue to explore the work done by academic librarians to implement the UNESCO OER Recommendation, published in Nov 2019.  We seek to understand:

1) what libraries are doing to share their educational resources more openly

2) how librarians continue to weave the UNESCO OER Recommendation into their day-to-day duties

3) which challenges they encounter

4) how we can increase and support Open Education in academic libraries of Higher Education in the future.

We look forward to sharing the results of the survey in late 2022. However, we need a good number of responses to provide the community with informative and inspiring updates on the progress of OE in European Higher Education.

You can help by telling us what your library is doing by taking the survey and by sending the survey link on to your colleagues or by sharing it on Twitter.
You can download the PDF before taking it here: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6483065

The survey deadline is Friday, 6 May 2022, 23.59 CEST.
