31st January 2019News

SPARC Europe’s 2018 Annual Report, which highlights the work we have done and achieved to advance Open in Europe, has been published.

The report touches on critical efforts to influence policy development that support Open Access and Open Science in Europe, including progress on European copyright reform legislation, improving access to publicly funded research data in the Public Sector Information Directive and helping ensure open access to publications and research data in the new Horizon Europe research programme legislation.

We also report on our engagement with Plan S, and of our continued efforts to produce and share briefing papers and reports that help guide and inform on issues like Open Science policy development. Also covered: progress made in helping sustain Open Science infrastructure with the SCOSS funding initiative. We are also proud to report on a new European network for academic librarians; the purpose of the network is to support them in making open education resources more accessible.

For a fuller overview of how SPARC Europe is leveraging our growing expertise, influence and relationships to help make Open the default in Europe, we invite you to read the report.
